Axon took place in the 2021 Annual LatAm/Caribbean Telecommunications & Media Forum run by the International Institute of Communications (IIC). Senior Manager Samuel Tew participated as guest panellist in a workshop on cybersecurity and data governance frameworks, where he enjoyed an insightful discussion around several topics, including national cybersecurity strategies, public cybersecurity initiatives and the role of the regulator and private sector in the national agenda.
The panel included esteemed experts from the LatAm/Caribbean ICT cybersecurity ecosystem, representing stakeholders from the private sector such as Nokia and Liberty Latin America, who had an interactive conversation about current levels of cybersecurity policy in the region as well highlighting key objectives and recommendations for the public sector therein. The discussion covered topics such as national cybersecurity strategies, cyber information sharing policies, cybercrime legislation and regional rollout of policies such as GDPR.
