Axon Partners Group announces the appointment of Luis Guillermo Plata as a new Partner in its Investment Division, where he will help to drive and strengthen its presence across Latin America, a region that remains central to the firm’s long-term vision.
Luis is a distinguished business leader, entrepreneur and investor, with an outstanding career spanning both the private and public sectors. Throughout his professional journey, he has combined a global outlook, a deep understanding of Latin American markets, and extensive experience in investment management and international relations.
In the private sector, Luis has served as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, and CEO of Cornerstone Group, the investment arm of Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) in Latin America. More recently, he was part of Albright Stonebridge Group, one of the world’s leading international advisory firms. In the public sector, he has represented Colombia in several senior roles: as Minister of Trade and Industry, where he led negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Colombia; as Chairman of the National Covid-19 Taskforce; and as Ambassador of Colombia to Spain.
Educated in Economics at the University of Arizona and holding an MBA from Harvard Business School, Luis brings an exceptional academic and professional background to our team.
His appointment strengthens the international growth strategy and consolidates Axon’s commitment to developing new opportunities in a region of tremendous potential for the company.
